I’m always really fascinated by the relationship between Share and Grumpy in UtM. They definitely have a lot of moments of tension where they disagree or have different perspectives.  You see this the most in After the Klatternack and Sorry Not Sorry, though it pops up in other times as well. (like when Grumpy acts ok leaving Good Luck and Share is shocked, or when Grumpy doesn’t want to trust Plunk) However, they also have moments where they work together well.  And Share definitely has many kind things to say about Grumpy and shows her support for him. But to my knowledge, you don’t ever QUITE get to see Grumpy show his same love for Share, even though you know it’s there. That’s why I REALLY love this moment.  It’s one of the few moments where you get to see Grumpy show his tenderness directly to someone besides Dibble.  And it’s both subtle and powerful, just from his little embrace of her.  Just seeing that comfort shows how much he wants to support and make her feel better when you can see how sad she is for Cheer and Little Light. So it’s just one of those really small moments in UtM that is really powerful to me.

So once again Boomerang has released an episode of Unlock the Magic, and though it’s touted as a 24 minute special, it’s really two slightly connected 11 minute episodes.  Not that I’m complaining, mind you.  More new CB:UtM content is a good thing.  What I do want to complain about is Boomerang’s haphazard release schedule. 

I understand that they want to create playlists of themed episodes, but when it comes to Unlock the Magic, that means they tend to only release episodes that are seasonally appropriate, regardless of where they fit in the actual episode order of the show.  Most of the time this isn’t a problem, since the show is fairly episodic.  However, the problem is that the big summer episode Neon Beach Party has a big turning point for Robbie, and is part of volume 3.  How far into volume 3 is it?  We don’t know!  So far only one other volume 3 episode has been released, and that’s set before Neon Beach Party.  (I will say, I appreciate that even though the episodes are being released out of order, they’re put in proper order on the website once they are released.)

But now the new ep, Snow-verload, is part of volume 4!  It shows that Robbie is still with the Bad Crowd, even though she appears to not be enjoying it any more.  So does that mean Neon Beach Party is the last episode of volume 3?  Is Snow-verload the first episode of volume 4?  Or are there episodes in between these two eps that either don’t feature the Bad Crowd at all, or show Robbie working as a bit of a double agent for the Care Bears?  Hopefully Boomerang will also put up the eps that recently aired on Tinypop in the UK, so we’ll at least get some answers there.

As for the episode itself, the first half was okay.  Lots of Dibble cuteness and bears dressed in snowgear.  The second half was more my cup of tea, as that’s where the Bad Crowd came in, and man, did I miss those guys.  Especially Robbie, though I dislike seeing her so disheartened.  Really not sure why she’s still sticking with Bluster at this point, but maybe the missing episodes explain it.  I mean, Plunk moved out of Blusterland, and he’s doing okay.  I bet Robbie could do the same.

The second half of the episode was also an absolute wasted opportunity for more Care Bear cameos.  We actually go back to Care-a-Lot, and we don’t see any new bears?  Like, they don’t even have to say anything, but we could have seen them.  Give me more UtM CB designs, Cloudco!
